Climate in Xiamen

Xiamen, a tourist-oriented coastal city, appeals strongly to foreign tourists largely due to its climate. Located in the subtropical zone, the city receives abundant sunshine (a total of 2,276 hours annually), a big blessing for those planning to go sunbathing on the beach. The annual average temperature here is 20.8 degrees C.

Even in winter the temperature here never hits anywhere near the colder North. The coldest month, February, never goes below 10 degrees C. 

The wind chill at this time can be a little biting though, so it is worth bringing a coat. The only other warning is that typhoon season can hit anytime between July and September and is probably worth missing.

The optimum time for visiting Xiamen is from May to July with warm, but not excessive, temperatures.
